Getting Started
My name is Paul Kuras. I was born and raised
here in this once little town of Dover, Delaware. I have always had an interest in cars starting with Hot Wheels when
I was a kid. That interest hasn't changed, only grown.
I left Dover in 1994 to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Center For Creative Studies with a major in Industrial
Design. While I was at the school, I was given many visual communication projects, especially in the transportation
courses. I had a lot of fun learning about how the light hits a surface, or how to indicate “body
roll”. I enjoyed creating these car illustrations that seemed to just jump out at you.
I worked with many companies through
sponsered studios at CCS including Johnson Controls, John Deere, Lego, and Bissel. A few years ago, I drew a picture of a 1970
Superbird for my wife, as a present (that was one of her favorite cars). When a friend saw the drawing,
he asked if I could draw his 1970 Firebird. It took about two years for me to “get around to it”,
but he loved it. Soon after, I started Kuras Custom Renderings. Though it is not the
design work that I once studied to do, I enjoy it none the less. I love to hear the owner's stories and learn so
much about specific models. I'm excited with every project that comes to me and always look forward to the next
challenge!
My Family
I met my wife in the
spring of 2000, and we were married five years later. She has always supported me with everything I’ve
done and I love her very much. She is a wonderful and extremely hard working person. I
couldn’t ask for a better friend. She is my inspiration and I could go on and on of how much I love
her. Our family will become complete this October with the edition of twins! Boys or girls,
we don't know! We want it to be a surprise! We also have a couple dogs including a Papillon
named Cosmo and a Papillion-Poodle mix (Pappypoo) named Lucy.
