Getting Started
My name is Paul Kuras. I was born and raised
here in this once little town of Dover, Delaware. I have always
had an interest in cars starting with Hot Wheels when I was a kid. That interest hasn't changed, only grown.
I left Dover in 1994 to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree at the Center For Creative Studies with a major in Industrial Design. While I was at the school, I was given
many visual communication projects, especially in the transportation courses. I
had a lot of fun learning about how the light hits a surface, or how to indicate “body roll”. I enjoyed creating these works of art that seemed to just jump out at you.
I worked with many companies through sponsered studios at CCS including
Johnson Controls, John Deere, Lego, and Bissel. A few years ago, I drew a picture of a 1970 Superbird for my wife, as a present
(that was one of her favorite cars). When a friend saw the drawing, he asked
if I could draw his 1970 Firebird. It took about two years for me to “get
around to it”, but he loved it. Soon after, I started Kuras Custom Renderings. Though it is not the design work that I once studied to do, I enjoy it none the less.
My Family
I met my wife in the spring
of 2000, and we were married five years later. She has always supported me with
everything I’ve done and I love her very much. She is a wonderful and extremely
hard working person. I couldn’t ask for a better friend. I have no kids, but when our two dogs and cat race across the living room, it sometimes feels like I do. We have a Papillon, Poodle, and a dark Calico kitten.
